bike tours

Posted on May 30, 2008May 8, 2013 by scjody

Who else is doing the Tour la Nuit or Tour de l’ÃŽle this year?

Also: most of the graphic design for the tour advertising bothers me on a visceral level. No idea why.

Amanda and I are both doing the Tour de Nuit, and she’s doing both.

Want to meet up at the start tonight? Robin and I are doing it, probably not too fast… In any case, I’ll be covered in LED lights like last year, so I should be easy to spot.

Oops, a bit late answering this – Taylor’s meeting us at our place at 7:30 and then we’re riding over to the starting point from there. If you get this is time and want to swing by our place first, text me and I’ll wait for you. Otherwise I’ll keep an eye out for you at the start.

unfortunately, I’d already left to meet Robin for food by the time you sent that… oh well, I saw Amanda and a few others on the ride.

tour de nuit is tonight?? maybe!! what’s the deal with the registration fee though?

At this point registration is $22. I’m not sure how they pay but there’s probably something on site.

do you know anything about what that money is going to and why I should register? seems to me I could just run the course, no?

It goes to Vélo Québec. I don’t know what they use it for. When you register they give you a dossard (I don’t know what that is in English.) I’m not sure how easy it would be to do the course without a dossard. You could probably sneak in a bit past the official starting point – they’re closed roads, but obviously they don’t fence off and patrol the entire route :)

and no, I don’t know the route but it should be on the VQ website. If you want to do this, you’ll probably be able to spot me – I’ll be covered in LED lights. see: http://www.flickr.com/photos/scjody/535448563/

I’ve obviously missed the night Tour, but I’m of course doing the main one on Sunday, and often people meet in front of my place. I think the plan is to meet around 8:15 or 8:30, though I’m not 100% sure.
