Is anyone else interested in driving to Boston on the weekend of the 22nd for XKCD day? I’m currently a “maybe” since RAMROD is scheduled for the Saturday, but I figured I should see who else is interested. I’m not doing that long of a drive on my own.
Logistics:
- It’s about a 6 hour drive. We need a car. I’ll rent one if necessary.
- Drive out Saturday. I have offers of couch/floor space for the night.
- Drink at the CBC.
- Drive back Sunday evening.
- If you’re in Ottawa, you take the bus or train here and stay on one of my many spare beds on Friday and/or Sunday nights as necessary.
Yeah, I’d be up for the trip.

Well, it’s a real date, and a real place. The place is a public park in either Boston or Cambridge (I don’t recall which.) Odds are good there will be lots of odd people at that place and time. Also, Randal Munroe lives in Boston so maybe he’ll show up.
I’d be halfway interested, if only it weren’t for this RAMROD thingy. Le sigh.
So why don’t we do RAMROD next weekend, or else in the middle of the week? (I’m free most Thursdays and I can take time off on most other days.)
i’m up for this assuming i’m in the country. i’ll split the cost of the car+gas with you.
Wee! That looks like fun. I’d come (with money and a drivers license) but I’m scared of border security. They make children cry :(
They’re really not that bad, especially at land crossings. I actually find Canadian agents (on the way home) less friendly. You do need proof of citizenship (birth certificate or passport) as well as your driver’s license. As of January 2008, you’ll need a passport.
