Oracle has the most fucking horrible, abhorrent, piece of shit, junk-ass installer I have ever used, on any platform, for any kind of product.
The first time I installed Oracle I ended up screaming “I fucking paid money for this shit?!”
All zealotry aside, very, very few applications really need an Oracle backend. PostgreSQL and MySQL are perfectly capable of handling 90% of applications’ database needs.
I fully agree. I’ve also discovered that attempting to install it without a current support contract is an excercise in pain and/or futility. I’m not convinced this is unintentional…
